A Private Estate with Cultural Presence
Hopewood House is a private estate in the NSW Southern Highlands, set within established gardens and historic architecture. For many years, it has been the home of renowned Australian artist Tim Storrier and his wife Janet, and the spirit of creativity and artistic stewardship continues to shape how the property is experienced today.
Rather than a traditional venue, Hopewood is offered for a limited number of private wedding residencies each year, granting couples exclusive tenure of the estate for a focused and considered celebration. The property is experienced not simply as a setting, but as a place to inhabit with time, privacy and calm at its core.
The estate’s atmosphere is informed by a deep creative lineage. Artistic sensibility extends beyond the house and into the landscape itself, with sculptural elements woven throughout the gardens and a studio presence that continues to influence the character of the property.
This creative context gives celebrations at Hopewood a sense of depth and intention, grounding each wedding in a place that feels expressive, deeply considered, and quietly rare.
Our History
[ est. 1884 ]
This grand estate and main residence of Hopewood House were first established in 1884 for pastoralist Ben Osborne and his wife Lucy Throsby. It was then most famously owned by Lebbeus Hordern, the “Jay Gatsby” of the Hordern family fortune until 1929 - Hordern established the stunning gardens we enjoy to this day.
